
it is a matter of great pleasure and I would like to share few of my thoughts. The Department is flourishing and achieving new heights by listing two staff members in World's Top 2% Scientist for 2025 by Stanford University. The department has started new course of B.Tech. in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence w.e.f. 2025. Our staff members actively involved in research and development activities. Our faculty members have published their research work in various reputed journals with good impact factors and carrying out research in diverse fields of Mechanical and Production Engineering. Students of The Department are also bringing laurel to the institute by participating in various curricular and extra-curricular activities from time-to-time at national and international levels. The Department is supporting students in all domains for their overall personality development and organizing different events through societies and clubs managed by department. The Department is trying to bridge the gap between Industry-Institute by adding curriculum of Industry Standards. We look forward to progress in the area of producing world class Mechanical Engineers who are responsible citizens. In collaboration with Blue Star India, a skill development center was inaugurated in Mechanical and Production Engineering Department on 20 January 2026. Er. Akshat Sharma, Assistant Vice President, Blue Star Ltd., India was the chief guest for the inauguration ceremony. This is the first such center in North India. This facility will be utilized for training of the staff and students in the field of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. Prof. Harmeet Singh (HOD MPE) and Dr. Sehijpal Singh (Principal, GNDEC) welcomed the participants. Prof. Lakhvir Singh Khana highlighted the objectives of the skill development center. Prof. Davinder Singh Bhogal proposed the vote of thanks.
Dr. Harmeet Singh, Dr. Harnam Singh Farwaha and Er. Lakhvir Singh Khana from the Department of Mechanical and Production Engineering visited FANUC India Limited, Manesar on 19 February 2026 for exploring recent advancements in robotics and automation.
Mech. and Prod. Engg. Deptt. and Applied Sciences Deptt. of GNDEC jointly organised a three-day AICTE-VAANI sponsored workshop titled “Next-Gen Innovations in Advanced Materials: A Multisectoral Approach” from October 9th to 11th, 2025. The event aimed to promote the use of Punjabi language in education while fostering collaboration between academia, research, and industry. Coordinated by Dr. Rajvir Kaur Sraw and co-coordinated by Dr. Lakhveer Singh Khana, the workshop featured expert lectures from renowned academicians and industry professionals. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Amarjit Singh Grewal, who captivated the audience by sharing his rich experience in materials science and reciting a thought-provoking poem on the transformative power of advanced materials, highlighting their role in shaping sustainable and innovative futures.

One day event on Intellectual Property (IP) was organized by the Mechanical and Production Engineering Department in collaboration with Auto Parts Manufacturers Association (India) on 6th February, 2026 at GNDEC, Ludhiana. The main aim of the event was to create awareness about IP protection challenges, strategizing and monetising IP, and various IP related schemes among students and staff.

Prof. Lakhveer Singh Khana, SPOC, SWAYAM-NPTEL Local Chapter of GNDEC, was invited to the SPOC Felicitation Workshop organized by NPTEL, held on 12 July 2025 at the Main Auditorium, IIT Kanpur. During the workshop, he was awarded the title of ACTIVE SPOC in recognition of his contributions. The workshop was organized under the leadership of Prof. Satyaki Roy, National Coordinator, NPTEL and Head, Media Technology Center and Department of Design, IIT Kanpur; Ms. Bharathi Balaji, Head Operations, NPTEL IIT Madras; and Dr. Angana Sengupta, Senior Project Scientist, NPTEL, IIT Kanpur. During the event, Prof. Khana also discussed future joint ventures with NPTEL aimed at improving the quality of education. His efforts toward the translation of technical content into regional languages were highly appreciated by the NPTEL team.
## Student AchievementsStudents of the Mechanical and Production Engineering Department participated in BAJA SAE INDIA and secured AIR 2 in the Cost Event, bringing pride to the institution. This achievement reflects the dedication, hard work, and teamwork demonstrated by the students throughout their BAJA journey. The team sincerely acknowledges the constant support, guidance, and encouragement provided by the faculty mentors and well-wishers. Their valuable inputs and unwavering belief in the team boosted the confidence of the students and motivated them to perform at their best.
